While DC will look to secure two full points from the match and return to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, RR will need this win to stay in the race for the playoffs. Given the team composition of both sides, DC have a slight edge as they possess the necessary batting firepower to take advantage of New Delhi’s batting-friendly wicket. On the other hand, RR, despite having in-form openers, have struggled to accelerate in the middle overs—costing them crucial points.

Besides their red-hot batting units, the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad have a lot in common. Both outfits banked heavily on retaining the core despite a complete overhaul ahead of the season. Both had a torrid run at the start of the season before registering morale-boosting wins in their previous outing.

Sunrisers will be hoping for Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head to continue their mojo they rediscovered in Hyderabad against Punjab Kings over the weekend. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will hope for their underperforming top-order to relieve the pressure on the middle and lower order.

Kishan did not bat during Saturday’s nets, but he knows the conditions at Wankhede more than anyone else in the SRH camp. Having been let go by MI in the big auction, he will be desperate to repeat his heroics from the season-opener.

But the left-handed trio at the top will be wary of Bumrah, a wounded tiger after the beating he took from Karun Nair in New Delhi. Bumrah was at his miserly best on his comeback game last week at the Wankhede and MI will hope for him to get back into a wicket-taking streak.

While captain Hardik Pandya’s form as a finisher will be key, along with Naman Dhir, the home fans will be hoping Suryakumar Yadav can repeat his exploits from last year, when he scored a hundred against the same opposition.

Maheesh Theekshana to bowl his first. Porel facing him. On the pads to the leftie, works it to deep midwicket for one run. A good length ball to Rahul, this is outside off, Rahul plays it to covers, no run. The third is fuller, angling into the legs, Rahul drives to covers, no run.
FOUR! Poor delivery! A full toss going down leg, looks like a carrom ball gone wrong, Rahul picks it up over midwicket. Rahul edges the fifth towards point while looking to work it through the on side. The last delivery takes an inside edge onto the pad as Rahul tries to flick, no run.

    • DC 37/2 in 4 overs
Sandeep Sharma to bowl the fourth. Porel on strike.
A RUN OUT! Porel miscues his pull onto his thigh pad and the ball rolls to the point fielder. Nair has, for some reason, set out for a single. The fielder attempts a throw at the non-striker’s end as Nair is sent back. Sandeep is in the line of the throw so he makes it a relay throw. It looks Nair is in by the time the bails are taken off, but a third umpire check shows Nair is short.
Karun Nair run out (Hasaranga/Sandeep) 0(3)
KL Rahul at No. 4. Porel still on strike though, he drills the third to long on for a single.
Sandeep fires in on middle-and-off to Rahul, defended. Rahul steps out to Sandeep on the next, drives straight, mid off cuts this off and keeps it down to just a single. Sandeep is too full to Porel, this is angling into the pads, clips to deep midwicket for one.

Archer to Porel, around the wicket, at the stumps and Porel defends. One run on the second delivery, banged short, Porel anticipates it but goes early into the shot, fluffs it and has to settle for a single to deep midwicket.
GONE! JFM’s meek run continues. He’s hurried on by the speed there. This delivery is outside off, JFM wants to heave across the line, slices to the extra cover fielder.
      Jake Fraser-McGurk c Jaiswal b Archer 9 (6)
Karun Nair walks out now. Archer bowls on the fourth-stump line, Nair defends to point. A bumper to follow up, Nair ducks under this. ALMOST! Another bouncer at 146 clicks, Nair miscues his pull shot but the ball lands just short of midwicket.

    DC 33/0 in 2 overs
Tushar Deshpande to bowl the second. FOUR! A juicy full toss to start off, Porel whacks this off his pads over mid on. FOUR more! Streaky but Porel will take it, he loses his shape while going for this delivery outside off, intends to hit through the on side, gets an edge through third man.
SIX now! A pick up shot off his pads, does not go for power, just uses the awry line to lofts it into the stands. FOUR! A slower delivery wide outside off, Porel waits to cut this, and manages to send it behind square and wide enough of the point fielder.
FOUR! Make it 22 off this over, short and around the off-stump line, Porel pummels this through midwicket. Porel misses a full toss on the last delivery, clips but only in the direction of deep midwicket, gets a single to keep strike.
